• The Shadows is the first National Trust for Historic Preservation site in the Gulf South. The home and garden are as breathtaking as the history preserved here.

This year we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Charley program. Since 1977, thousands of students have walked through the front gate and experienced antebellum life through the eyes of Charley and Harriet Weeks, children of David and Mary Weeks, and Caroline and Riley, enslaved children on the Weeks family plantations. In honor of this special occassion, we would like to hear your experience with Charley. Were you a student? A grandparent? A family friend? We want to know! Throughout the rest of the year, we will be posting shared Charley stories on our Facebook page. Be on the lookout. We might share yours! To tell your story, fill out the form below or email the Shadows at shadows@shadowsontheteche.org

Please provide the year (i.e. 1995) or years that you were involved with the Charley program.
Type your Charley story in the box above. There is not a limit on the number of characters that can be used. If it easier, you can type your story in a word document, then copy and paste it into the box.
