ABOUT DEBBIE
Debbie Williams spent her entire professional career creating fertile and creative learning environments. For over twenty years, she worked in the field of early childhood education first as a public-school teacher and ultimately as the director of an early childhood center. In 2011, along with a band of dedicated women, she helped to envision and open a children’s museum.
After retiring, she decided it was time to pursue a dream she had harbored for over twenty-five years, to write a novel. Although she considers herself a storyteller more than a writer, Williams’ published her first novel, The Neighborhood, in 2020. She quickly realized the characters she had created had more stories to tell thus beginning the Evelyn Johns series.
When not writing, Williams works part-time at a local history museum and enjoys gardening, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling with her husband, Jeff, who has found his own passion in retirement, painting with watercolors! He has participated in the Shadows-On-The-Teche Plein Air since 2019. This is Debbie’s first time to join him in New Iberia and she is excited to meet the people and experience the culture Jeff has enjoyed!
